FTM HRT (Estrogen Blockers and Testosterone) / Re: Is this normal on T?

If that's the case, them I'm worried there's a good number of guys out there on too high a dosage, but could the same thing happen if your dosage is too low?

Yes, it can sometimes happen if your dose is too low.

If you have naturally high testosterone, you might need to take a slightly lower dose of T. If you have naturally low testosterone, you may need to take a higher dose. Get your blood tested once every three months when you are early in transition and once a year once you are further along.

Passing as Male for FTMs / Walking and posture
« Last post by EddieD on March 19, 2017, 01:40:34 pm »
Guys, do you think that the way you walk and the way you stand can help you pass? I've been watching my male friends and the way they walk but anytime I try to not move my hips so much and walk in manly manner or whatever I feel like I walk like a robot or smth ridicoulous. It feels unnatural and like if I was a clown or something. I know that this is so minor and most people don't notice and I'm not sure if it helps me pass or not but I've come to the point when I can't walk around people bc I'm so self-conscious about being perceived as a woman. With every step I'm so aware of my hips and it killing me. Have any of you tried to change the way you walk or is there some other way you could help me? I'm not on hormones yet (starting in month and half finally!) and I'm desperately trying to pass any way I can.

I find it unnecessary in many cases where you can just say "not trans", but in some contexts it is more useful. Though it is often used in a negative way, I don't mind using it when it's appropriate.

Cis is a very common term used by the trans community, but I've never seen it used here. Some TERFs and anti-SJWs think it's a "slur" against cis people-- which I think is extremely oversensitive. Frankly that's kind of an SJW response. Anyway, what are your thoughts on the term cis? I use the word all the time.

Whether a certain procedure is "worth it" depends on your level of dysphoria. Obviously if you will die without the procedure, it is worth it.

You should be aware that fat doesn't really re-distribute. Fat redistribution means that your fat will grow in places that fat usually grows on male bodies. Your old "female-shaped" fat will still be there if you don't burn it off. Lipo is worth it for some trans men, and others are able to shape themselves at the gym. Some use a combination of fitness and surgery.

If you simply want to limit the number of surgeries you experience, but still think you need medical intervention to get rid of your "female shaped" fat deposits, you might also consider a procedure called "cool sculpting" which allegedly freezes the fat with cooling lasers. I don't have personal experience with this procedure though.

Yes of course if you're having any strange hormonal symptoms, you should ask your endo.

No, this is not normal on T. This is an indication that you may be taking slightly too much testosterone, and it is converting to estrogen. Contrary to popular belief, taking too much testosterone does not cause "roid rage." Rather, the fat in your body converts excess testosterone to estrogen.

If you experience menstruation, cramps, or any estrogen-like symptoms on testosterone, contract your doctor ASAP and get a blood test. Do not adjust your dose based on me, ask your doctor before you do anything.

Again:

Too much testosterone converts to estrogen.

Roid rage = no

Periods = yes

Since Trans men are such a small group, I've always had a hard time finding any concrete explanations, at most just other trans men reporting the  same pains and theories for why it happens. It could be that if you're early on in your transition, the organs will attempt to do their job as long as they exist in your body. If you're on shots, you could still technically be going through hormonal cycles.

It may also be from the organs shutting down as well because of T. I also fund this one tidbit on a FTM hysto site:  Testosterone causes atrophy of the uterus and ****, which puts tension on surrounding muscles and ligaments which can cause painful cramping.

Sometimes it frustrates me how little info I can find in regards to trans men health. I wish I new more. :-\

Thanks for the advice, it seems I'll have to deal with for at least another a couple of years. Why does it still happen even when the estrogen is blocked and your body is still dominated by testosterone? Is it because there's still a little remaining estrogen and progesterone in your system that hasn't been blocked?

From what I've read, it's common for trans men to have abdominal cramps every now and then, sometimes even years after being on T.  For some guys they can even expect a small amount of blood, maybe once every few months.  I would still bring it up to your endocrinologist just to be safe, but I think every trans guy experiences some amount of pain at least until they get a hysterectomy. It seems to happen often though to guys who haven't had a hysto yet, and I wouldn't worry too much about it health wise unless you start experiencing almost unbearable cramping/pain.
