General Questions / Re: Phase?
« on: February 16, 2018, 09:06:24 pm »
I think exploring whether this is really is a phase is less a question of time and more if this is something is really genuine you are experiencing in terms of dysphoria. Maybe you can talk to a counselor about this or something?

Hi, sorry for the late response. You can DM me about this, as obviously this is personal.

Passing as Male for FTMs / Stress Dreams Related to Passing?
« on: December 08, 2017, 08:32:02 am »
This is weird, since I do pass well in public and always wear a binder and packer whenever I can, but last night I had a stress dream where I just wasn't wearing a binder or a packer at all (I think I had forgot to in the dream or something). It wasn't necessarily about me not passing, as everyone still recognized me as male in the dream, but more about me being really dysphoric and not passing in my own opinion because I wasn't binding or packing. Now I'm not one for dream interpretation that much, but when it comes to stress dreams like this, I think this was more about my dysphoria and a sort of "What if I forgot to bind/pack?" and freaking out about that scenario. Sorry if this was a really weird post, lol, especially since I haven't posted in a long while. I just wanted to know if anyone else has had a similar experience.

HRT Results / Voice Changes 1 Year on T Video (From Youtube Channel)
« on: October 28, 2017, 06:01:53 pm »
In case anyone finds it helpful, I'll post my video from my channel showing my voice changes over 1 year on T:

https://youtu.be/os6FAf4nyXI

Since I'm more comfortable showing my face now, I might post photos documenting the course of my transition later (though it'd take me a lot of time to dig up my pre-transition photos and I didn't consciously take photos over the course of my transition, so it'd take a while to do).

There's certainly a possibility you can get an Adam's apple and an adult male voice on T, especially since you started under 21. Though I started T at a younger age, I started growing an Adam's apple and getting a significantly lower voice withing 4-5 months on T. And you shouldn't worry if the changes are coming at a slower pace- from what I understand, though the biggest changes come in at 2 years, it takes 5 years for all of the changes to fully set in. If you're really worried about your changes on T you can talk to your endocrinologist and make sure you're on the right dosage, or your maximum dosage if you've moved up to that.

Forum Basics/Rules / Re: Future of this forum

Yeah, I could make a video to re-advertise it. I just don't want to feel like I'm shilling it too much haha. But I do agree restarting it won't do anything to help, so I shouldn't do that.

Forum Basics/Rules / Future of this forum
« on: September 09, 2017, 08:54:49 pm »
So as you guys no doubt have noticed, this forum didn't gain nearly enough traction as I had hoped. I'm still glad there are people asking questions and interacting in it, as seldom as it may happen, but I have only been sparsely frequenting it myself to check in on the activity, respond to people's questions, etc. As sad as it is to say it, this doesn't  really feel like any sort of a community. So what should I/we do to change this? Should I invite more people? Restart the forum? Any ideas would be appreciated. I just  this would be a good idea and I'm a little spoiled to see that in the past few months it hasn't worked out as I hoped it would.

Passing as Male for FTMs / Re: Height as a passing factor
« on: September 09, 2017, 08:45:36 pm »
I don't really have too much experience in this area, so I don't know how much of a help I can be, but I'll try. First of all, boy's clothes might work as others have suggested if you're too small for men's smalls, but otherwise shoe lifts and high boots might make you look taller. But I actually wouldn't worry too much about height as a passing factor- though it doesn't hurt to be tall, certainly, what's more likely if you have other traits you can control (e.g. boy's clothes, a masculine haircut, masculine mannerisms)- that they see a boy/short man or a masculine woman? I'm guessing the former. As for the growth hormones, I actually wouldn't recommend it. From what I understand, HGH and other such hormones are illegal and might mess up your HRT anyway. I know you really want that extra height, but it's not worth it.

I would say unless there's a legitimate concern of one of your co-workers or customers legitimately hurting you, it's probably worth it. Considering you're transitioning (or planning on transitioning), they're probably going to find out eventually either by the way you dress or the way your physical appearance changes, and that might be awkward. Also, since this isn't a case of you being stealth and then coming out, you probably hate not being able to be seen as male, even if people are going to know you're trans. Ultimately, it's up to you, but if I were you I'd be uncomfortable still being seen as female on the job and take coming out over getting backlash over it. I'll admit I don't really have experience in this, since I was already out as trans when I started my first job and I live in a very accepting area, but I hope this helps.

I get what you mean, even though it's not the same as body dysphoria and might come across as being "triggered", because it does suck to be reminded you were born in a female body.

It's okay, it's been increased now, and my endo has reassured me that it's not uncommon for it to take longer for the voice to drop completely.

FTM HRT (Estrogen Blockers and Testosterone) / Testosterone Dosage
« on: April 05, 2017, 12:17:22 am »
Hey guys,

I know I haven't been active on this forum for a while (this forum hasn't been as active as I've hoped, and I've been busy lately so I haven't been checking in on the forum activity that much), but I had a question regarding testosterone dosage. I'm scheduled to see my endocrinologist on the 17th to talk about potentially raising my T dosage (and potentially getting top surgery this summer!), and I've been on testosterone for about 7 1/2 months. I've been on the same dosage since I've started (I don't know how much, but since it's been the same since I started I'm suspecting it's a pretty low dosage). My last blood tests said I was at 686 ng/dl, if that means anything (I have no idea what that means). The reason I'm starting to get concerned is because I've noticed my voice hasn't gotten as deep as a lot of the videos I've seen of testosterone timelines. From what I've seen, from pretty much all of those videos the trans guys' voices are deeper at 6 months than I am at 7 1/2 months. Am I just being paranoid or am I on too low a dosage? Either way it should be resolved soon, as I should see my endocrinologist soon, but I wanted to know your input on it.

Matthew

I had some mood swings where I had low mood for the first few months on T, so I don't think you're the only one.

I was experiencing some periods of low mood/energy for the first couple months on T, and they seem to have resolved themselves by now. It doesn't seem all that uncommon to experience moodiness on HRT (which makes perfect sense considering how hormones influence your emotions).
